The Partit Nazzjonalista presents proposals for innovative and creative fields; economic growth that leaves more money in people’s pockets and in the economy, and places fewer burdens on infrastructure; we will once again give the people a fresh vision that delivers The Partit Nazzjonalista in government was instrumental in the creation and development of new economic sectors that diversified the Maltese economy, including financial services, iGaming, aviation, pharmaceuticals and the maritime sector. This economic vision created quality jobs, strengthened Malta’s competitiveness at international level, and built sectors that remain the backbone of our country’s economy to this day. Today, the Partit Nazzjonalista once again wants to take our country forward with a fresh vision through which it will create new sectors in innovative and modern fields that will open doors of opportunity for our young people, and a fresh vision in the creative economy that gives Maltese artists A Fresh Start and the space to excel and thrive. This was the message delivered by the Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista Alex Borg during a press conference at which further economic proposals by the Partit Nazzjonalista were announced as part of the Fresh Start campaign. These proposals are aimed at delivering more added value without placing new burdens on infrastructure, while also improving people’s quality of life and increasing money in their pockets. Alex Borg recalled that yesterday the Partit Nazzjonalista announced another new economic sector, the Mediterranean Maritime Fuel Hub, which is expected to generate around €450 million for the Maltese economy in its first three years of operation. Today, the Partit Nazzjonalista is continuing to show how a new PN Government will invest in other economic niches that create added value, quality jobs and new opportunities for Maltese and Gozitan people. Alex Borg said that a PN Government will invest in these economic sectors to increase national wealth and, through this, raise the standard of living of Maltese and Gozitan people. This will be achieved by increasing the money in people’s pockets and fighting the cost of living, which will automatically improve the quality of life of Maltese and Gozitan families. . The Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista explained that a government led by him will invest in economic niches that do not place additional pressure on families, the population or the country’s infrastructure, but which are built on added value, innovation, talent and knowledge. He said that the proposals announced today focus on two new economic sectors: Data, AI and New Space; and the Creative Economy. Alex Borg said that through the Data, AI and New Space sectors, the country will gain added value, create quality jobs, and generate a ripple effect across the economy that leaves more money in people’s pockets. This will also attract further foreign investment to our country, which in turn will continue to increase quality employment. He said that New Space is a real field and not something for the future. According to the European Space Agency, in 2024 this field generated €400 billion globally, €78 billion of which was in Europe. Partit Nazzjonalista candidate Jerome Caruana Cilia explained further the PN’s proposals for the fields of Data, AI and New Space. He said that if the people trust the Partit Nazzjonalista to lead our country for the next five years, in the first five years a PN Government will invest €12 million in New Space. This is expected to generate around €100 million in the country’s economy and, within 10 years, begin generating €200 million a year for our country. He said that a PN Government will invest in an economic niche that allows Malta to attract foreign direct investment from companies that use satellite connectivity, space data, navigation systems and AI to create new services. The ultimate aim is for these fields to add value to the economy, offer modern career opportunities, and strengthen the country without placing pressure on the people and on infrastructure. “We are committed to investing in these fields because Malta is innovative and ambitious, and because we have great potential in them. We have reached the point where we must make the next leap forward to once again create quality jobs. We cannot afford to fall behind. The real risk is not being too ambitious, but being too late.” The Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista also spoke about the PORT – Cultural District project, a project that will place our country on an international level when it comes to the arts, culture and conferences. “In Malta we have priceless local talent that must be maximised so that our artists have the best opportunities in their own country — quality jobs for artists. We will grow economic activity linked to this sector and strengthen the cultural identity of Malta and Gozo.” Partit Nazzjonalista candidate Julie Zahra explained further this new niche in the Creative Economy, saying that the vision of the Partit Nazzjonalista will offer new spaces and financial support to artists. She explained how the project will consist primarily of investment in two main buildings: the National Hall; the Marsa Expo Centre. The National Hall will be a national complex centred around a main hall that serves as the permanent home of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, and will be designed for works including opera, ballet and large-scale artistic productions. The Marsa Expo Centre will be a leading facility for events, conferences and exhibitions, hosting large-scale cultural events, international conferences, expos, fairs and commercial activities. All this will be carried out through capital investment of around €350 million, and this economic niche is expected to return around €110 million a year to the Maltese economy. Julie Zahra said that this investment will be made so that Maltese and Gozitan artists have the best infrastructure, the best job opportunities in the fields of art, culture and innovation, and a stronger source of income. She said that the Partit Nazzjonalista wants to drive Maltese talent forward and offer the opportunities needed for culture to become a serious industry that creates jobs, increases wealth in the economy and strengthens national identity. “This will be the legacy that a PN Government leaves to artists and to the country.” A new PN Government will give A Fresh Start to the economy, A Fresh Start to Maltese and Gozitan talent, and A Fresh Start to families who want to move forward in our Malta. 06.05.2026
